About
Biography
Alex Keiser is a trumpet performer and teacher born and raised in Orlando, FL. He has been playing the trumpet for 11 years, and has performed all around the United States, Europe, and in several cities in East Asia. His love for music and the trumpet started with having a strong passion for jazz and classical literature in middle school. This strong passion led to countless hours of practice and curiosity, which eventually brought him to winning the concerto competition for the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestras at 18 years old, making for his debut as a soloist in front of full orchestra with the Arutunian Trumpet Concerto, featuring his own cadenza. During his time at the Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, IN, he studied under several professors including Douglas Lindsay, Kevin Cobb, and Jason Bergman. He was a part of numerous large ensembles, including the symphonic band, wind ensemble, university orchestra, symphony orchestra, brass choir and brass band. In between these large ensembles, he also participated in frequent performances with his brass quartet and brass quintet, including a recital that featured the premier of new works. Alex also spent two semesters learning the baroque trumpet with Dr. Kris Kwapis during this time, giving him an even deeper admiration and appreciation for the music written during this period. He is now studying with John Thiessen to further his knowledge of the baroque trumpet.
After graduating with a B.M. in Trumpet Performance from the Jacobs School of Music in 2023, he has recently begun studying under the tutelage of Professor Billy Hunter at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City to pursue his Master's Degree in Trumpet Performance. While in New York, Alex is also participating as a freelancing teacher and musician all over the city, performing on everything from the shofar to orchestral trumpet, and more.
Over the Summer months, Alex has been seen performing at the St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Windermere, FL. Here, he has played in a variety of settings, including frequent performances in traditional worship, a Summer pops orchestra series, and three musicals. This Summer, Alex will be traveling to Berlin to perform in Gianni Schicchi, Suor Angelica, and Hänsel und Gretel.
When not performing on the trumpet, Alex enjoys teaching young students and enlightening them with the joys of performing and learning the intricacies of music and the trumpet. He found and developed this passion when he spent 3 years teaching trumpet lessons to several high school and middle school students in Nashville, IN. He has continued his passion for community outreach by teaching students in multiple underserved areas in New York City. He has also started teaching privately while in New York City, and is always happy to take in new students, both locally and virtually.
