My Life Outside of the Trumpet
Although making music on the trumpet and teaching music through the trumpet is what my primary passion is, I also have some other things I love to do!
Currently, I work as a Scheduling & Patron Services Assistant at the Manhattan School of Music, where I get to interact with the wonderful students and faculty in a whole new way. I've also had the pleasure of working at Epcot in Disney World as Seasonal Cast Member, and at Indiana University as a Part-Time Supervisor. When I get free time, I enjoy playing piano and guitar, as I've found that having musical outlets outside of trumpet has allowed me to explore so many other genres and styles. I also enjoy collecting vinyl records of my favorite artists and orchestras(check out my Discogs @alexk1115)!
When it comes to sports, I was never a very athletic kid unfortunately, but doing solo sports like skateboarding, surfing, and climbing have been a very crucial part in my life, giving me a sense of community outside of music. Whenever I can, I enjoy spending time with family and friends by participating in things like surfing, climbing, hiking, or traveling.
